About the Conference
The AWEA OFFSHORE WINDPOWER 2011 Conference & Exhibition brings together exhibitors and attendees from all over the world who are interested in becoming players in this new and highly promising market. The event will be held at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
Recent steps taken by both federal and state governments have put offshore wind high on the nations' priority list, signaling to investors that the U.S. is serious about advancing the development of the offshore wind industry. Maryland is one such state that is pushing hard to capture the winds off its coast. Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley has pushed legislation that would require utilities to sign long-term power purchase agreements and create green manufacturing jobs. Maryland is open for business, and so too are booth sales - this is an event worth exhibiting at!

Last Year's Event
With over 120 exhibitors and nearly 1,700 attendees, last year's event in Atlantic City was a resounding success. The three-day conference featured keynote speeches from the New Jersey Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno and U.S. Department of the Interior Secretary Ken Salazar in which he announced the signing of the nation's first lease for commercial offshore wind energy development on the Outer Continental Shelf.
"Our nation's energy policy is at the forefront of the Department's agenda," said Secretary Salazar. "Now, more than ever, we must embrace the energy potential our lands and oceans hold. With the help of AWEA's initiatives and continued support, we can make the transition to a clean-energy economy a reality."
