The Center for Carbon-free Power Integration (CCPI), University of Delaware (UD) conducts research and publishes on offshore and coastal wind power, transmission planning, and storage to support large-scale carbon-free power systems. CCPI researchers participate public hearings, are active on the AWEA Offshore Wind Working Group and other industry and government forum, speak and write widely, and provide graduate training on offshore wind power. |

The University of Massachusetts Wind Energy Center is a leading institution in wind energy engineering education. Since 1972 the Center has maintained extensive wind energy education programs and research projects. Offshore wind energy generation was first investigated at UMass under the program direction of Professor William Heronemus, with the first PhD awarded in 1972. Since then, UMass has been actively involved in measuring winds and ocean conditions along the Massachusetts coast, particularly at the proposed Hull offshore project. Students are involved in meteorological monitoring, structures research, mapping studies, and met-ocean characterization. |
