  Call for Abstracts

Thank you for your interest in presenting at the North American Offshore Wind Conference & Exhibition. This year's conference will feature more presenting opportunities than the past AWEA Offshore Wind Workshop, including a track for offshore supply chain issues. Following the success of last year's poster presentations, this year's conference will also feature several poster presentations and an opportunity for these presenters to interact with attendees. Both podium and poster presenters will be selected through a careful review process. This page contains the following information about submitting an abstract:

Process Timeline
Primary Criteria
Steps for Submission

Process Timeline:

Abstract Submission Deadline Monday, May 17, 2010

Abstract Review May 17- June 14

Notifications* Between late June to early August

*Notification of abstracts that are not accepted occurs at a later date in the event that any openings occur in the program. Please do not contact AWEA before this time as it will delay the process.

Presentation Submission Deadlines:

Poster presentations Wednesday, August 2, 2010
Podium presentations Monday, September 6, 2010

Primary Criteria:

A diverse group of reviewers from different sectors of the offshore industry will be reviewing the abstracts. They will look for the following criteria when reviewing:

  • Work is new or presents a new perspective or data on known material.
  • Abstracts are well organized and clearly describe their relevance to the industry--describing how the information presented could be applied or used in practice. Applicants are encouraged to use case studies, offer solutions, and include specifics.
  • Keep in mind that the conference audience is a mix of beginners and experts, but abstracts should offer in-depth content.
  • Business and Policy abstracts should be practical and stray from being too general. Technical and scientific abstracts should be specialized with detailed information.
  • No Marketing Materials. Consultants and manufacturers may submit abstracts of a non-commercial nature, but all obvious commercial sales pitches will not be accepted for a presentation. Being selected to present is a privilege and recognizes you as a top industry expert. We frequently hear from attendees objecting to the commercial nature of some presentations--including a sales pitch will only diminish your reputation in the eyes of conference attendees.
