  Wind Project Tour

Tour the first wind farm to be built in New Jersey

As part of the conference registration AWEA is offering several optional off-site tours to the nearby Jersey-Atlantic Wind Farm.  The 7.5-megawatt (MW) Jersey-Atlantic Wind Farm is the first wind farm to be built in New Jersey, and the first coastal wind farm in the United States. The wind farm is located in Atlantic County, NJ and is visible to more than 30 million Atlantic City visitors each year from downtown Atlantic City and the Atlantic City Expressway. The project produces approximately 19 million kilowatt-hours of emission-free electricity per year, which is enough emission-free energy to power over 2,000 homes. The electricity is used by both the Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) Wastewater Treatment Plant and delivered to the regional electric grid.

Please reserve your space during registration at one of the following tour times:

o       Wednesday, October 6 at 10:30 am, 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm

o        Thursday, October 7 at 11:00 am and 5:00 pm

The tours are complimentary to conference attendees.  However, space is limited and reservations for these slots are on a first-come-first serve basis.  Round-trip shuttle service will be provided and participants should plan for 1.5 hours total time including transportation and the tour.
